Garter Belts

A garter is a ribbon or elastic band tied around the opening of a stocking, and is a garment with the upper end tied around the edge of the hem of the belt.

The purpose of the garter belt is to prevent the stockings from slipping, because the legs of people are getting thinner from the top to the bottom, so the edges of the stockings are easier to loosen than the top ones. The garter belt is tied around the top of the stocking, and the top end is tied around the edge of the hem of the belt to prevent the stocking from slipping.
